Fraud calls from 1409801051 claiming to be from verification department

I am writing my experience i had on my Bsnl landline from 1409801051 telephone number.

I had received a call on a Sunday afternoon from 1409801051 telephone number. First the person with great difficulty tried to pronounce my father's name. It was me who picked up the call. Usually i know all of my father friends or from his department who talk professionally with great respect.

I disclosed my name and said its my father. Then he started asking that my LIC policy has come for cancellation and need to be verified and they are calling from verification department.

My suspicion grew when they immediately switched from my father to me, because they had asked for my father.

I asked them, in case if you are calling from the verification for LIC can you tell my name in the policy or the policy number. From this he understood that i am not going to provide any details. He tried a guess work with a combination of my name and father's name. I said it is wrong. On saying that, immediately he said that "Asking question is his job" and followed by abuses in Hindi. Remember right from the beginning he was talking in Hindi and broken English.

Since i knew Hindi, i gave it back to him and he kept the phone. My phone device is having caller identification, i tried calling the number back but it does not exist.

REMEMBER:
1. Never give any details to these people who are calling from telephone number 1409801051 or 140 series
2. These numbers are alloted as Telemarketers by telephone service providers.
3. They call through some software or by other means so that we can track back
4. Most of the calls come to your BSNL landlines
5. These numbers mostly originate from Delhi
6. Most probably they try their luck by calling someone from the Bsnl printed directory. Since the directory has Name, Telephone number and Address.

BSNL must stop printing the telephone directory with name, telephone number and address. What a classic example of losing our privacy details.
